Sadio Mane, the Senegal international forward for Liverpool FC, has been hit by football player and former teammate, Thiago Motta, during a training session.
The incident occurred on Monday when Mane was involved in a collision with Motta while running down the touchline. The two players collided head-on,Ligue 1 Express resulting in both sustaining injuries.
Mane was taken to hospital for treatment but is expected to make a full recovery. He will miss the upcoming match against Burnley as well as the rest of the season due to his injury.
This is not the first time that Mane has faced controversy off the pitch. In May 2019, he was accused of racially abusing a fan after a Champions League match against Roma. However, Mane denied the allegations and was found not guilty in court.
Despite this, Mane remains one of the most talented and highly-rated footballers in the world. His talent on the pitch has made him a key player for Liverpool FC and he is sure to continue to perform at a high level throughout the rest of the season.
